Grey Cast Iron Casting in Pakistan

Lahore Casting pours Grey Cast Iron (FG200, FG260, FG300) to order at Mominpura Road, Lahore, Pakistan, by sand casting from 1 kg to 500 kg. The oldest and most forgiving casting iron. Flake graphite makes it damp vibration, machine easily and fill thin sections - which is why machine bases and housings have been made from it for two centuries. Every heat is checked on an OES spectrometer before pouring and a material test certificate is issued on request.

Grades and properties

Grades pouredFG200, FG260, FG300
Grade meaningFG260 means 260 MPa minimum tensile strength
Tensile strength200-300 MPa
Compressive strengthroughly 3-4x its tensile - it belongs in compression
DampingThe best of any casting alloy here

When to choose it

Use Grey Cast Iron when: Housings, machine bases, pulleys, flywheels, counterweights, brake drums - compression, vibration, or a lot of machining.

Choose something else when: The part sees impact or tension. Grey iron gives no warning before it breaks; use SG iron.

Castings poured in Grey Cast Iron

15 of the 40 standard castings are available in Grey Cast Iron. Any of them can also be poured to your own drawing.
