Alloy Steel Casting in Pakistan

Lahore Casting pours Alloy Steel (AISI 4140, 4340, 8620) to order at Mominpura Road, Lahore, Pakistan, by sand casting from 1 kg to 500 kg. Steel with chromium, molybdenum or nickel added so it can be quenched and tempered to a strength plain carbon steel cannot reach. The choice when a part is loaded hard and must not fatigue. Every heat is checked on an OES spectrometer before pouring and a material test certificate is issued on request.

Grades and properties

Grades pouredAISI 4140, 4340, 8620
Tensile strength850-1100 MPa after quench and temper
Typical hardness28-45 HRC, set by the tempering temperature
Key elements4140: 1% Cr, 0.2% Mo. 4340: adds 1.8% Ni. 8620: case-hardening grade
Heat treatmentNormalise, harden, temper - all in-house

When to choose it

Use Alloy Steel when: The part carries heavy or reversing load: shafts, couplings, heavy brackets, gear blanks, hitch and linkage parts.

Choose something else when: You need corrosion resistance, or the part is a thin housing that only has to hold shape - grey iron is cheaper and machines better.

Castings poured in Alloy Steel

6 of the 40 standard castings are available in Alloy Steel. Any of them can also be poured to your own drawing.
